I agree with your reasoning. In β€œThe Dialogue” of St. Catherine of Siena, God tells her that committing a sin, even the smallest one, is never justified.

You misunderstood me quite badly. She is not justified, but throwing her in prison won't help her nor the injured party. There should be an appropriate penalty geared toward restitution, healing, and reform.

There is situational mercy all through the Bible, OT and NT.

There is also civil mercy in the courts in the USA.

Not all identical crimes should have identical punishments. Having multiple children teaches you this.

Re: a pedophile, the merciful thing to do is probably: share the gospel, advise them to cast their sin on the Lord Jesus, and execute them for their crimes.

Regarding your youth and inexperience, it's not an attack. I have been there and I genuinely hope you continue to mature. You seem to be in your early-mid 20s, and it would be a terrible thing if you never matured from your early-mid 20s.
