What is Abortion?
One of the most controversial issues facing the world hinges on this question.
What is Abortion?
Abortion is a hot topic in our culture, with vehement activists on both sides. But, when examined closer, it’s easy to see that the entire debate really comes down to this question; what is abortion?
Today, we’re going to put an end to the debate and examine what’s really going on under the hood.
Listen Here
1. What’s in the Womb?
Abortion itself is something that takes place inside a women’s womb, so it would be helpful to start with this question; what exactly is in the womb?
Many pro-abortion activists will claim “It’s just a fetus in there, I can do what I want!”
Interestingly enough, fetus is latin for child.
“a developing human from usually two months after conception to birth”
Well, if a fetus is just an 8-week old human, what about before that? When does human life begin?
2. When Does Human Life Begin?
Basic biology tells us that human life begins at fertilization. It is at fertilization that a unique set of human DNA is created. The only difference between adults and a fertilized egg is a matter of form, not kind.
‘“At fertilization, the human being emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species Homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult stage and in its zygotic stage is one of form, not nature.”
"When Human Life Begins" - American College of Pediatricians – March 2017
Pro-abortion activists try so hard to de-humanize fertilized eggs, and by doing so are no different than the Nazis in World War 2. They used to say “Those Jews look like people, but they’re parasites.”
Now we’re saying “Those babies look like humans but they’re just a clump of cells, do what you want with them.”
3. What is a Human?
Let’s go even further now, what is a human? Even if a human life begins at fertilization, who cares? Maybe we’re overreacting here.
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image;
he created him in the image of God;
he created them male and female.
Ge 1:26–27.
A human is the being that God made in his image. As humans, we have unique dignity, purpose, and value.
This isn’t conditional; we don’t have to accomplish anything first to deserve this. All humans are equally set apart as distinct from the rest of the animals.
This means that as a human reading this, you are valuable. I’m obligated to love you as I love myself.
4. So What is Abortion?
So what is abortion? Is it a choice? Is it a contraceptive? Is it poverty prevention? Is it something that should be funded?
Well, human life begins at fertilization…
And abortion happens after fertilization…
And the abortion procedure is the destruction and removal of that fertilized egg…
So what is it? Are you getting it yet?
It’s Murder. Abortion is murder.
The term “abortion” is a marketing catch phrase that hides what’s really going on: the unjustified slaughter of an innocent person.
In fact, it’s not just the killing of an innocent person, but the MOST innocent person; a helpless baby who can’t even breathe on their own.
At the moment where we should be protecting these children the most…
We don’t just look away…
we don’t just neglect them…
we don’t just let somebody else take care of them instead…
We kill them.
What kind of sick, asinine culture do we live in where the mass genocide of 1 million babies every year is not only legal…
It’s not only morally acceptable…
It’s not only the cultural norm…
It’s applauded and praised in our streets. People are PROUD of their murder.
This is not just every-day sin we’re dealing with; this is pure evil. Satan is killing our children, and we’re cheering him on on the sidelines.
5. Repentance
Our culture needs to repent from this modern day holocaust and turn back to God in humility. Jesus is the only answer, and the only way to forgiveness for these horrific sins. The blood of these children are on the hands of the pro-abortion activists, and at the end of history, every person will be paid what they are owed.
Additionally, we need to fight tooth and nail for equal protection for humans of all ages, including babies, under the law. What does that mean?
Since Abortion is murder, anyone involved in performing an abortion should be convicted under the penalty of the law for that crime. Whether that means jail, or the death penalty, justice ought to be served.
And by what standard do I propose all of this to you? Is it just my opinion?
No, it’s God himself.
6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.”
Ge 9:6.
God cares so much about those fertilized eggs, that he’s willing to take your life for it if you destroy it.
It’s time we love these children as much as God does. Let us repent, turn to Jesus in forgiveness, and use our gifts and strengths to fight for equal protection for all humans, especially the unborn.
